June 12, 1938-October 17, 2016
Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, at noon in Martin & Castille’s La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette for Alfred Sol Lippman, age 78, who died Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at Lafayette Memorial Park.
Alfred Sol Lippmann spent the final days of his life surrounded by his beloved family, professing his absolute love and gratitude for each member. His essence poured from the love and passion of his heart and he generously lavished his love and passion on his family, friends and those who crossed his path. His family will forever cherish the grandiose way in which he embellished with great pride their accomplishments.
Al, a most accomplished man, would undoubtedly consider his 60 years of marriage to his wife Gail to be his greatest accomplishment. To his final breath, he still saw her as his beautiful bride, and the love of his life. The tender, sweet love notes professing his love for her will be cherished forever.
A world traveler who fancied exotic and exciting destinations, he most loved his fishing and hunting trips to Plum Bayou, Cocodrie and Pecan Island with family and friends. He relished the thrill of the hunt and the catch.
If there was ever a life that exemplified the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you; it is the life of Al Lippmann. His family describes him as an amazing, amazing man slow to anger, and quick to forgive. He was that one friend of a lifetime who respected others, lead with honor, and treated others with mercy and fairness. This dapper dresser was legendary in the behind-the-scenes world of politics.
His words of comfort for his family were shared for many years; “This too shall pass, it is always darkest before the dawn.” This lover of history was proud of who he was, a Louisiana man, an American.
I submit to you, that this man of great faith is resting in the arms of our loving God.

And although the years took their toll in challenging her physically, she met these difficulties with grace and quiet acceptance. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, John Fangue; daughter, Charlene Fangue Rentrop and husband Dale Rentrop Sr.; and great-grandbaby, Bethany Rentrop. She was the last surviving sibling of Otis Rhodes, Roland “Dusty” Rhodes, Lloyd Rhodes Sr., Cecile Rhodes Ledet, Leon Rhodes and Walter “Dub” Rhodes.

Louis was a caring, big-hearted, generous, and fun-loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who had a great sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh and was a family man through and through.
A native of Morgan City and a lifelong resident of Patterson, Louis began his career as a teacher and coach at Morgan City High School. Following a short time teaching and coaching, he ventured into the insurance industry, which began a 35-year-long career.
Louis was also active on many civic fronts in the Patterson area. He was a former councilman for the Town of Patterson, served on the St. Mary Parish School Board for 26 years, and was very active in youth athletics, serving as a coach and mentor.
A longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson, Louis was also a third degree member of the Patterson Knights of Columbus Council 1710.
Most importantly, Louis loved his family with all he had and was a proud “PaPa” who actively supported his grandchildren in all that they did. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those he leaves to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Suzanne Carpenter Lipari; their three sons, Matthew L. Lipari and his wife Kristen, Jeffrey P. Lipari and his wife Tabby, and John Douglas Lipari and his wife Frannie; seven grandchildren, Jordan, Brooke, Bailee, Megan, Emily, Landon and John Lipari; one sister, Leona Armato; two brothers, Luke J. Lipari and his wife Kay, and Lenny M. Lipari and his wife Robin; one sister-in-law, Mikie Lipari; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo P. Lipari and Mary Cremaldi Lipari; two brothers, Peter L. Lipari and Cosimo “Gus” Lipari; his father-in-law, John D. Carpenter; his mother-in-law, Annette Cone Carpenter; and one brother-in-law, Lucien Armato.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Louis’ many nurses at MD Anderson for the loving and compassionate care given to him, as well as to everyone for the many calls of concern and prayers offered.
