December 31, 1941-April 25, 2016
Tony R. Linn Sr., a former 18-year resident of Patterson and a recent resident of Bayou Vista, went home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, April 25, 2016.
Tony was born in Pineville on Dec. 31, 1941, to the late John Henry Linn and the late Rosalie Bardwell Linn. He met the love of his life, Shirley Humphries, and the two were married on Oct. 9, 1976, and began their life together. They moved to St. Mary Parish early on and began their family, living in various places until settling down in Patterson. On Oct. 27, 2013, just five days after Shirley’s 58th birthday, Tony and Shirley lived out their marriage vows when she passed away unexpectedly. But with faith and family he found the strength to carry on.
A hard worker, Tony spent his entire career in the construction industry working for various companies in the area. He was also a longtime member of Bayou Vista Baptist Church. Anyone who knew Tony, knew of his wonderful sense of humor, he truly loved to make people laugh. Following retirement, he found his true passion in life, being able to spend his time with his grandchildren. Whether it was babysitting them, bringing them to and from school, or attending their afterschool activities, Tony didn’t miss a thing if he could help it. He also looked forward to his daily conversations and frequent coffee visits with his good friend Calvin Ortis. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but will be fondly remembered in the hearts of those he touched while on this earthly scene.
Survivors include his children, Heather Linn Blakeman and her husband, Brandon, Tony R. Linn Jr. and his wife, Errica, and Toni Phillips, who was looked upon as a daughter; his grandchildren, Madison and Kole Blakeman, Makenzie and Landon Linn, and Jacob and Kaitlin Phillips; his brother, Donnie Linn and his wife, Linda; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
He is now reunited with all those who have gone before him, including his beloved wife, Shirley Humphries Linn; his parents, John Henry and Rosalie Bardwell Linn; and seven siblings, Stoney, Anderson, Lee, Otis, Lester and Roland Linn, and Gloria L. Brooks.
A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Bayou Vista Baptist Church from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. At 11 a.m., a celebration of his life will be held with Rev. Steven Kelly officiating. A private inurnment in Ibert’s Memorial Park Cemetery will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that anyone wishing to make contributions in Tony’s name do so to Bayou Vista Baptist Church, 411 Field Road, Morgan City, LA 70380, (985) 395-3070.
