Cora Landry Perro Ward, 77, a native of Broussard and resident of Morgan City, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, at Teche Regional Medical Center.
Visitation will be Thursday from 9 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. at Pilgrim Grove Baptist Church in Morgan City, Pastor Harold Henderson Sr., officiating. Interment will follow in the Morgan City, Cemetery.
She is survived by two sons, Lucien Perro and Felix Perro Jr., both of Franklin; two daughters, Gwendolyn Perro of Morgan City and Alida Clark of Patterson; two sisters, Theresa Miller of New Iberia and Gwendolyn Anthony of Loreauville; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, stepfather, a brother and a grandmother.

Sister Myrna Connor, 58, a resident of Franklin and native of Lafayette, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016 at her residence.
Visitations will be Saturday, Oct. 15, from 9 a.m. until time of service, at MK Dixon Funeral Home in Baldwin. Rev. Willie Jackson will officiate the service.
She will be interred in the Sorrel Community Cemetery in Sorrel.
Myrna Connor attended Thomas Gibbs, G.W. Hamilton and Franklin High Schools. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at an early age by the late Rev. Harris of Nazarene Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, playing bingo and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, two sons, Desmond Connor, Sr. (Shawna) of Franklin; Don Ray Griffin, Jr. of Lafayette; one daughter, Jodie Marie Connor of Franklin; four brothers, Donald Connor (Phyllis) of Charenton, Arbel Connor of Hampton, GA; Kim Connor of Baldwin, and Joseph Washington (Emma Pearl) of Jeanerette; four sisters, Connie Connor, Shelia Connor, and Carlene (Lema) Boutte, all of Franklin; and Gwen (George) Angelle of St. Martinville; seven grandchildren, Markayla Connor, Desiree Martin, Daniel Robertson & Desmond Martin, a devoted companion, Wendell Hensley and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Connor, Jr. and Maggie Leonard Connor-Fine; maternal and paternal grandparents; one brother, Burnell Connor; two great nieces, Hope LaVigne and Moriahya Jones.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 13, 2016 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church for Geraldine Guyote, age 86, the former Geraldine Kern, who passed away Thursday, October 6, 2016 at The Carpenter House in Lafayette.
Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Grand Coteau.
Ms. Guyote was a native of Jeanerette and a lifelong resident of New Iberia. She was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Nativity of Our Lady, where she enjoyed singing in the church choir for over 30-years. She also enjoyed painting and drawing, gardening, and spending time especially with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who meant everything and to whom she devoted her life and love. Ms. Guyote was a member of the Pink Ladies at Dautrive Hospital.
Survivors include four sons, Martin John Guyote and his wife, Geraldine, of Boston, MA, Phillip Gerard Guyote of Orlando, FL, Walter Paul Guyote and his wife, Wendy, of New Iberia, and Charles Gregory Guyote and his wife, Patti, of Scott; three daughters, Melissa Ann Minvielle and her husband, Steven, of Morgan City, Mary Catherine Robichaux and her husband, Rory, of Atlanta, GA, and Michelle Claire Potts and her husband, Dennis, of Atlanta, GA; eleven grandchildren, Meghann Elizabeth Galdos and her husband, Michael Galdos, of Boston, MA, Maura Kelly Guyote and her partner, Marco De La Cruz, of New York, NY, Laura Elise Orlando and her husband, Jason, of Houston, TX, Caroline Louise Strong and her husband, Joseph, of New Iberia, Scott Christopher Robichaux of Savannah, GA, Chad Jeremy Robichaux of Atlanta, GA, Zack Tyler Dunda of Atlanta, GA, John Robert Guyote of Lafayette, Nichole Rene Whitbeck and her husband, Brandon, of New Iberia, Erin Elizabeth Goudeau and her husband, Geoffrey, of Lafayette, and Stephanie Victoria Palacio and her husband, Jimmy, of Colorado Springs, CO; four great-grandchildren, Davin George Galdos, Bradley Steven Orlando, Serena Lily Strong and Avery Lukah Whitbeck; her former husband, John Guyote of Atlanta, GA; one sister, Leslie Kern McGowen and her husband, Michael, of Jeanerette; five nephews, Leigh McGowen, Christopher McGowen, David Trimble, Michael Kern and Robert Kern; and one niece, Laura Kern Landry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles A. Kern, Sr. and the former Esther Simoneaux; two unborn children (Angels in Heaven); one brother, Charles A. Kern, Jr.; and one sister, Mercedes Kern Trimble.
A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until service time on Thursday at St. Charles Borromeo Church.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 14, 2016, during an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charenton for Helen Stella Mora, a native of New Orleans and lifelong resident of Charenton who passed away at the age of 89, on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at the Franklin Healthcare Center.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday at the church from 9 a.m. until Mass time at 11 a.m. Following the Mass she will be laid to rest in the Chitimacha Mausoleum. Father Cedric Sonnier will be the Celebrant for the Mass and conduct the services.
Helen is survived by her brother, Peter D. Mora Jr. and his wife Mary “Pat” Wyles Mora; two great nephews, Joshua Mora and his wife Gina, and Christopher Mora and his wife Filomena; two great, great nephews, Peter D. Mora IV and Francesco Mora; and one great, great niece, Sofia Mora.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter D. Mora Sr. and Stella Rodrigue Mora; and one nephew, Peter D. Mora III.

Sylvia Orason Buck passed away Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, at the age of 87.
Beloved and loving wife of 60 years to Frank M. Buck Sr. Mother of Leonard E. Wiggins Jr., Lonnie J. Wiggins, Barry M. Wiggins, Ethel Buck Cantu, Elizabeth Buck Waguespack, Frank M. Buck Jr. and the late Darryl I. Buck. Grandmother of 10; great-grandmother of 6. Sister of Ida Marques, Una Peck and the late J.D. Orason, Roy Orason and Jerry Orason. Sylvia is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
She was born in Brownsville, Texas, was a longtime resident of Patterson, Louisiana, and recently a resident of Marrero, Louisiana.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Verdunville during a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian burial celebrating the life of Myra Broussard Paul, a native of Glencoe and a 56 year resident of Verdunville who passed away unexpectedly at the age of 71 on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, at Franklin Foundation Hospital.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until Mass time at 2 p.m. Following the Mass she will be laid to rest in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Verdunville. Father Peter Emusa will be the Celebrant for the Mass and conduct the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Bradley Paul, Bryan Paul, Giovanni Gunner, Timothy Wolf, Taurean Smith, and Roland Gunner Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Wilbert A. Paul Jr., Randy Paul Sr., Morrison Broussard Sr., Ulysses Broussard, Ryan Westley, Frank Griffin Jr., Anthony Benjamin Jr., Roland Gunner Sr., and Floyd Paul Jr.
Myra was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend who genuinely loved her family and loved them all equally. Generous and caring by nature, she was the type of person who always put the needs of others before her own. Myra was definitely the rock of the family. She was also a wonderful cook, something that she truly loved doing. She had an open door policy and would feed anyone who walked into her home. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those she leaves to cherish her memory include two sons, Wilbert Paul, Jr. and his wife Andrea, and Randy Paul, Sr.; four daughters, Jacqueline Griffin and her husband Frank, Marilyn Paul Gunner, Markita Westley and her husband Ryan, and Lorena Benjamin and her husband Anthony, Jr.; 12 grandchildren, Bradley Paul, Anjanike Williams-Smith, Brittany Gunner, Timothy Wolf, Giovanni Gunner, Nashanta Benjamin, Bryan Paul, Randionna Paul, Randy Paul, Jr., Randalyn Paul, Randan Paul and Kailey Benjamin; two great grandchildren, Khyler Williams and Taytum Smith; two brothers, Morrison Broussard Sr. and Ulysses Broussard; four sisters, Florence Pickett, Audrey Verdun, Laura Williams, and Rose Simmons; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services for Bessie Burns Simoneaux will be held Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, during an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson. She will be laid to rest in the St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum. Father Angelo Cremaldi will be the Celebrant for the Mass and conduct the services.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until Mass time at 11 a.m., with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 10 a.m.
Bessie was born in Centerville and was raised in the Atchafalaya Basin on a houseboat. On April 28, 1951 she married the love of her life, Rudy Simoneaux. They spent the majority of their lives residing mostly in Patterson. Many will remember Bessie from her numerous years working as an Avon Representative. She also worked as a nurse’s aide at QCII Nursing Home (now Patterson Healthcare Center), as well as a life insurance agent. She was very active with the American Legion Auxiliary as well as the VFW Auxiliary. One of her favorite pastimes was tending to her yard and flower garden. Bessie passed away at the age of 83 on Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, in Mandeville at the Ponchatrain Healthcare Center
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Simoneaux Northup and her husband Bill; her granddaughter, Heather Northup Hooge and her husband Michael; two sisters, Jimmietta Palmature and her husband Jimmy, and Shirley Hymel and her husband Floyd; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She preceded in death by her husband, Rudy Louis Simoneaux; her parents, Jesse Burns and Laura Sauce Burns; one brother, Jesse “Junior” Burns Jr.; and one sister, Margaret Burns.

Bessie Burns Simoneaux, 83, a native of Centerville and resident of Patterson, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, at Pontchartrain Health Care Center in Mandeville.
Visitation will be Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson from 9 a.m. until services at 11 a.m., with a rosary at 10 a.m., the Rev. Angelo Cremaldi officiating. She will be laid to rest in the church mausoleum.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia S. Northup; a granddaughter; two sisters, Jimmietta Palmature and Shirley Hymel; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Barbara Ruth Koen, a lifelong resident of Morgan City, passed away Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, at Teche Regional Medical Center. She was 74 years old.
Barbara lived her life to the fullest, taking enjoyment in good food, good company, and great family. She loved to play bingo, take part in holidays (especially the food), board games, and the food network. Most importantly though, she adored her family.
Barbara leaves to cherish her memory, her children, James Womack Sr. and his wife, Anita, of Houston, Laura Womack of Berwick, Glenn Womack of Morgan City, and Crystal “Noshow” DeHart and her husband, Keith “T-Boy” DeHart (Barbara’s favorite son-in-law); daughter-in-law, Earline Rogers and her husband, Chris; her honorary children, Ernest “Bo” Bosarge and his wife, Rhea; her grandchildren, Jamie Granger, James “Bubba” Womack Jr., Russell Blanchard Jr., Kelly Blanchard, Jaci Campbell, Matthew Johnston and his companion, Macey Blanchard, Tiffany Morin and her husband, Jerrid, Christopher Womack and his wife, Chasity, Victoria Womack, Timothy Womack, Cristy Ardoin and her husband, Shawn, Cissy Gaudet and her husband, Bryan Sr., and Rachelle Womack; her great-grandchildren, Shi-Lynn Granger, Dorian Womack, Dexter Ardoin, Zayden Morin, Maddie Morin, Mattix Morin, Alexa Morin, Mason Johnston and Marilyn Johnston; one brother, Irvin “Do” Boudreaux and his wife, Pearl, of Westwego; sister-in-law, Rose Koen of Berwick; lifelong friend, Judy Wallace of Patterson; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Memorial visitation for Barbara will begin Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, at 5 p.m. until time of services at Immanuel Baptist Church in Morgan City.

Mary A. “Meanie” Willis, 79, a resident of Bayou L’Ourse, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, at Teche Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born Aug. 17, 1937, in Morgan City, the daughter of Louis and Beulah Gros Aucoin.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by five children, Sherry Morris, Tammy Kleimann, Karen Montet and husband Mark, and Robert Kleimann, all of Bayou L’Ourse, and Jerry Cedatol and wife Yvonda of North Carolina; two stepchildren, Candace Willis Christian and Darrell Willis; six grandchildren, Jobe, Nikki Jo, Shandeal, Matthew, Samantha and Valeria; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Beulah Gros Aucoin; husband, Laurie F. “Pop” Willis; two daughters, Billie Kleimann Legendre and Vicky Kleimann; one grandson, Billy Joe Holcomb; one stepdaughter, Carman Willis Kennedy; three sisters, Elsie, Della and Clem; and six brothers, Clinton, Bill, Floyd, Harry, T-Boy and Nippy.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, at Twin City Funeral Home with the Rev. Charley Driskill officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. today, Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at Twin City Funeral Home with the visitation resuming from 8 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
Following the services, Mary will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.

Randolph Schexnayder Jr., 75, a native and resident of Patterson, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, at Teche Regional Medical Center.
Visitation will be Saturday at Good Hope Baptist Church in Patterson from 9 a.m. until services at 11 a.m., Pastor Patrick Jones Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Home Industrial Cemetery in Patterson.
He is survived by three sons, David Paul Schexnayder of Franklin, and Gerald Schexnayder and Robert Schexnayder, both of Patterson; three brothers, Milton Schexnayder and Roland Schexnayder, both of Patterson, and Melvin Schexnayder of Niceville, Florida; two sisters, Carolyn Mouton of Patterson and Lee Ann Wilson of Lake Charles; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Visitation will be Tuesday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church from 9 a.m. until services at 11 a.m., the Rev. Larry Frank Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery.
He is survived by his mother, Rosa Stewart of Morgan City; a brother, Kevin Stewart of Houma; a sister, Damita Hawkins of Patterson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father, and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Eugene Anthony Fields, 87, a resident of Morgan City, passed away Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, at Teche Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Eugene was born July 23, 1929, in Morgan City, the son of Dennis and Adele Barras Fields.
Eugene had a very strong love for God and chose to serve him daily. He loved his country and was a very proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving for three years.
Eugene loved his family more than anything and always cherished the time he got to spend with them, especially the time spent with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Rose Marie Beatty Fields of Morgan City; three children, Kathleen Fields Gaudet and husband Elward of Bayou L’Ourse, Daniel Eugene Fields of Amite, and Melanie Fields Askew and husband Perry of Morgan City; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer Viccellio and husband Steele, Jessica Makepeace and husband Tyler, Chelsea Mayden and husband Jeff, Elise Gaudet, Adam Fields and wife Erin, Sarah Fields, Tiffany Waguespack and husband Jon, Danielle Grow and husband Scott, Brandt Askew, Justin Askew and wife Megan, and Jennifer Fanguy and husband Dusty; 12 great-grandchildren, Riley, Spencer, Anthony, Nicholas, Vincent, Zachary, Gabrielle, Zoe, Kylee, Talan, Elizabeth and Jace; three great-great-grandchildren, Mason, Zaylie and Arliegh; and one brother, Roy Fields and wife Linda of Houston.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Adele Barras Fields; as well as numerous brothers and sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Noas Kerketta officiating. A visitation will be held today, Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Twin City Funeral Home with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. The visitation will resume from 9 a.m. until Mass time on Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Following Mass, Eugene will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery with military honors being rendered by the East St. Mary Veterans’ Funeral Squad.

Garrick O’Neal Stewart, 44, a resident of Morgan City and native of New Orleans, passed away Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016 at 6:45 p.m. at his residence.
Visitation will be observed Tuesday, Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Frank, Sr. officiating.
Burial will be in the Morgan City Cemetery, following funeral services.
Survivors include his mother, Rosa Mae Stewart of Morgan City; one brother, Kevin Stewart of Houma; one sister, Mrs. Kevin (Damita) Hawkins, one god-daughter, all of Patterson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives.
Garrick was preceded in death by his father and both his maternal and paternal grandparents.
